ELEMENTAL 04 is shaped through an intuitive process of layering and exposure to the elements. Using watercolors handmade by the artist from locally gathered soils and earthen clays, pigment is built up and dissolved across raw cotton canvas, gathering, dispersing, and settling into subtle variations. A natural patina gradually emerges as the materials themselves participate in the outcome.
